Nobleman Tadeusz Reytan stood up against the First Partition of Poland in 1773 - in vain. He retreated to his estate where he died of old age. As a Polish patriot and nobleman, he was a class enemy and so the communist reign of the USSR did what it could to let the manor and surrounding buildings go into ruins.
Years of use as Red Army barracks and local cultural center, neglect and looting have left their marks.
