War is the main theme in the lifes of Ukrainians. Rolling power cuts, limiting electricity often to not more than 4 hours per day, generators on the streets and the sound of the air alert sirens constitute the daily background noise. Memorials for fallen defenders and murdered civilians are in sight everywhere, and so are signs of perseverance and patriotism.
It is about a whole populace being exposed to hostile assaults every single day, doing their best to stay sane and resilient. And to survive.
No electricity for most of the day means: No hot food or drinks, no cold food or drinks, no air condition or ventilation at summer temperatures exceeding 30°C, no heating in the upcoming winter, no elevators for the high-rises of the urban areas, no light in the dark when the air alert sirens sound, dark living rooms and offices inside buildings even during the day, and always bring your own flashlight to shops, restaurants or museums.
No electricity means exposing the people to the demons of the dark humanity has feared since its beginning. That is not a strategic means of war. It is pure terror.
On the 947. day of russia's 3-days-to-Kyiv "special military operation" war of aggression against Ukraine, the russian personnel losses are estimated to be as high as 649.000. And russia shows no intention to stop.
