In my young days I was a frequent moviegoer, and this small town cinema was my absolutely favorite place to go, run by an enthusiastic old lady.
After 50 years it went out of business in 2006, but there was always hope that the grand old days of movies would resume one day. They never did...
When the doors finally unlocked for one last time, it was like nothing had changed, a giant tin can of a preserved movie-past. When I approached the box office, I was expecting the lady to sit there and greet her guests, as she once had done each evening.
Of course, these days are gone forever.
